The Great British Barbering Academy educators Mike Taylor and Gareth Clark have spent an evening sharing their knowledge with over 60 students, staff and local employees at Abingdon and Witney College in Oxfordshire. The evening was the first of a college tour planned for 2019, continuing with an event in Poole in January. There are plans to hold about 20 colleges visits across next year, in a package that will include an afternoon session with students and staff followed by an evening employee engagement session.
The content of the afternoon sessions will be dictated by the individual colleges. “Some might just offer hairdressing so will be looking for short men’s hair and clipper cuts, whilst others might want level 3 barbering,” says Mike Taylor. “Two educators will go into the college from around 2.30pm to 5.30pm and offer barber training for the students. From 6.30pm to 9pm we’ll invite local hairdressers and barbers to come along for a “chat show” style session, which will include live haircuts and beard trims and advice on barbering, additional services and social media, ending in a Q&A.”
Salon Services is supporting the tour. Tickets to the event will cost £10. To find out more about the tour and ticketing, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.greatbritishbarberingacademy.com
