North Barbers Exeter in 24-hour barbering marathon

Exeter-based North Barbers braved a 24-hour barbering marathon to raise money for two local charities—homeless charity St Petrocks and Dream-A-Way. Implementing a walk-in system for the event, the first client (who had traveled 63 miles to the shop) arrived at 7am and the last client at 5.15am. The team completed 70 haircuts and shaves, raising £1345 in the salon. The event also included local business donations to a blind auction, including help from Matt Horder from American Crew.

“We couldn’t believe the support of the community,” said Stephen Simms, director of North Barbers. “A gentleman that we have never met before brought us in a hamper of food and drink to see us through the day, a local coffee company donated all our coffee to see us through the night and one of our clients spent six hours preparing BBQ food for us all during the evening—from the first client (who had traveled 63 miles to the shop) until the last client at 5.15am, the team completed 70 haircuts and shaves, raising £1345 in the salon alone—including the clients.”

The total raised (before gift aid) was £2500.
