Access to the latest grants for barbershops confirmed Following the announcement by Chancellor Rishi Sunak of new one-off grants for hospitality, leisure and and retail sectors, the Hair and Barber Council has had confirmation that salons and barbershops are eligible.

The Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has confirmed that the personal care sector – which includes barber, hair and beauty businesses – is also eligible for this grant.

The Chancellor has announced one-off top up grants for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses worth up to £9,000 per property to help businesses through to the Spring.

The one-off top ups will be granted to business who have been forced to close due to the latest lockdown.

The payments are as follows:

£4,000 for businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or under

£6,000 for businesses with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000

£9,000 for businesses with a rateable value of over £51,000

Any business which is legally forced to close, and which cannot operate remotely, is eligible for a grant.
