Hair Replacement Live TV Reveal for York Radio Presenter
Magic was in the air when Tim Lichfield from Northallerton, North Yorkshire wowed audiences with his hair replacement reveal live on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch this month. Award-winning magician and radio presenter Tim, a regular ‘lunchmate’ audience member on the popular show snapped up the chance to take part in the live reveal when North East based hair replacement company, Novo Cabelo were scheduled to join the show.

Based in the North East of England, Novo Cabelo is one of the UKs fastest growing Hair Replacement companies and the team are quite literally transforming the hair industry with their innovative, non-invasive hair replacement systems. At the helm of the company is Rob Wood, an award-winning Hair Stylist and TikTok Star who is on a mission to shine the spotlight on the stigma associated with male hair loss and hair replacements.

Rob Wood, Director at Novo Cabelo said: “Hair loss has a big impact on both men and women; however, we do still see a stigma around male balding and towards men who are wanting to change the effects of hair loss through treatment. Male balding can have a detrimental impact on mental health and wellbeing, especially in some of our younger clients. Our social stats speak volumes and the support and demand for our services has exploded over the last year, but there is at times this deep-rooted stigma associated with men wanting to rectify and improve their situation for their own confidence.”

Tim Lichfield, a popular presenter on YorkMix and Pride Radio said: “Although I’m confident and I wasn’t initially bothered by my gradual hair loss it has started to magnify in the last year and I am more aware of it. People do make comments and it does chip at your confidence bit by bit. When I got the opportunity to take part in the live reveal, I thought I might aswell give it a go and didn’t really know what to expect until I started looking at the TikTok reveals, and then I could see the impact it was having.”

Voted 7th Top 100 Influencers 2022 and Social Stylist of the Year finalist at the British Hairdressing Business Awards 2022, Novo Cabelo has racked up over 24 million TikTok views, 2 million likes and nearly 115k followers for the inspiring hair transformation reveals with clients travelling from across the world for the innovative hair replacement treatment.

It’s estimated that in the UK approximately two thirds of men will face male pattern baldness, also called androgenic alopecia. It usually follows a pattern of receding hairline and hair thinning on the crown. Men’s experience of balding can receive less attention in society, be brushed aside and be told it’s the ‘norm’, and at times face a rath of jokes and ridicule around the sensitive subject. Which in turn effects confidence and self-esteem, with recent research citing that male pattern baldness has been seen as a leading cause of depression in men.

Rob added: “It was a great opportunity to perform the live reveal on TV with Tim and the feedback and support we’ve received has been phenomenal. It’s our mission to normalise hair replacement and tell the story of clients from different backgrounds and make hair replacement normal and seen as common place for men to have these replacements just like women have hair extensions. Hair loss can have a detrimental impact on people’s self-esteem and self-image, and we feel our non-invasive treatments give that choice back and that clients don’t have to accept their ‘lot’ so to speak and can decide how they want to manage their hair loss journey.”

The company trains stylists across the UK in the hair replacement process and following accreditation salons and barbers become a Novo Pro and benefit from an ongoing specialised package of training and support. Clients undergoing the non-invasive procedure will benefit from a full head of hair in just two hours, with the hair system process starting at £350 depending on the style of hair, lasting 3-6 months, with a refit every 3-4 weeks.

Rob said: “2022 was simply mind-blowing. The transformations have been very emotional to witness, and we love to see the influx of video transformations from our Novo Pro approved and trained salons across the UK. The systems are so super natural and bring back so much confidence, although our biggest audience is currently male the treatment is equally suitable for male and female balding and for clients with other types of alopecia.”

Tim added: “All the mirrors were covered on the day at the TV studio, so I had no idea until the final reveal, although it was a little nervy doing it live on TV, I’m so happy with the amazing results, I really didn’t realise how much hair loss had in fact affected my confidence. I’m so glad I said yes to the live reveal.”
