Show Us Your Raw Talent

The future of barbering is only as strong as the next generation of hair pros coming through the ranks and encouraging and nurturing this talent is something Barberfest and Modern Barber Magazine take very seriously. This is why Barberfest and Modern Barber are once again teaming up with Mike Taylor Education and our sponsors VTCT to bring you the Raw Talent Barbering Competition.

Open for entries on 16 May, the Raw Talent Barbering Competition gives a platform to barbering students and apprentices, offering them the chance to show the industry what they can do, while presenting them with a career springboard like no other.

The first round of the competition is judged based on photographic entries, but finalists will get to compete live at Barberfest 2022 at Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel as part of Barberfest 2022. It’s a great atmosphere in which to show the barbering world just what you are made of — everyone there is behind you and wanting you to succeed!

Just like in 2021, we will have a live competition area for the next generation of barbers to show the industry what they’re made of. And not just that, there is also a prize of £250!

For the first round of the competition, we’re asking you to provide up to four images of ONE haircut you have done as well as a short description of the look and the inspiration behind it i. Those that are shortlisted as a finalist by our judges will be invited to re-create their look live at Barberfest 2022.

Who can enter?

Entrants must be currently undertaking a formally accredited level 2 barbering qualification, currently registered on the Hair Professional Standards (Barbering) or recently qualified within the previous 12 months.
