It’s time for the American Crew All Star Challenge 2021 as entries are now open! American Crew®, the Official Supplier to Men™, is now accepting submissions for its 2021 All-Star Challenge, an annual search for the top talent in the grooming industry. Globally, top barbers and stylists have the opportunity to participate in a creative showdown, where they are asked to create the ultimate contemporary interpretation and expression of American Crew style. The All-Star Challenge asks barbers and hair stylists to put their technique and talent to the test, using American Crew products to create looks that capture the trendsetting-yet-timeless spirit of the brand. Inspired by American Crew’s commitment to the Professional salon industry, what started as just a one country competition has evolved into a global event that has provided vast opportunities to over 11,000 stylists worldwide since its inception.
Submissions for the global competition will be reviewed by respective in-country judging panels to select their national winner, who will then move forward to participate in the global competition where five winners will be selected. Entries will be assessed on five different core competencies: barbering (mastery of clipper skills, fading and shaving), high texture (ability to display technical skills, shape and control while working with highly textured hair), length (excellence in cutting and styling hair length while maintaining a masculine edge), retro (ability to recreate a classic cut from the past with technical excellence in cutting and styling), and trend (ability to think ahead by producing a shape or style that could become a future trend).
The 5 All-Star Challenge 2021 Winners will receive a $5,000 monetary award and an all-expense paid trip to Barcelona, Spain to participate in an editorial photo shoot alongside American Crew Founder, and renowned photographer, David Raccuglia.
“With the many challenges facing the grooming and salon industry during the global pandemic, this year’s All-Star Challenge feels more pertinent than ever before. We’re shining a spotlight on talent to aid in driving their careers at a crucial time for the industry and to open the door for both aspiring and established Pros,” said American Crew Founder, David Raccuglia. “Every year I am honored to be part of the All-Star Challenge to give a platform to stylists and groomers, and this year feels even more personal. Our hope is that this competition helps give a creative outlet to the Professionals who may have struggled during this challenging time, while continuing to both inspire and educate students.”
To enter the All-Star Challenge competition, stylists are asked to create a hair style that best represents the American Crew look. The look is to be portrayed on their chosen model and showcased through two (2) black and white photographs of their model from chest-level and above. The model should be in front of a blank background, with one photo face-on and the second focusing on the profile. Photographs are required to be accompanied by a brief description of the look and the products that were used to create it. Entries open on March 1, 2021 and will be accepted through May 15, 2021. Further details around the UK & IE final to be announced and the Global winners will be announced on June 7, 2021.
