While the stars of Formula 1 will be donning their helmets ahead of the opening Grand Prix in Bahrain this weekend, Modern Barber has been taking a closer look at the hairstyles you'll be seeing trackside this season.
During the off season, Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas was staying in Australia with his girlfriend when he decided to switch up his look. The the mullet continues to grow in popularity in 2023, however the look has been a staple for clients down under for the past few years now. Many were quick to praise his new look, including former Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo, who commented: "This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve never been proud of the mullet but you’ve changed me."
One F1 fan even joked: "That cut is at least 1.5 seconds a lap faster. It’s Science." While we're not quite sure how he worked that out, it's clear they're a big fan of his new hairstyle.

Last season, Williams Formula 1 driver Alex Albon surprised fans with a red hairstyle at the Melbourne GP. While visiting an orphanage in Thailand - the nation he races for - all of the children reportedly wanted to dye his hair. Albon explained to the online publication Autosport, "These kids were Liverpool fans - in Thailand, Liverpool and Manchester United are like the biggest teams out there. Red is also a lucky colour in most of Asia, so the kids wanted to dye my hair. And of course, I just had to say yes."
After scoring some much needed points for his team in Australia, he decided to keep the colour for a little longer. The British F1 Team even organised a pop-up barbershop, cleverly named Albonos, last season where Alex tried out his own barbering skills, dying the rest of his team's hair the same lucky colour.

Alex has since converted to a bleached look, and with any luck, blonde will prove to be another lucky colour for the driver.

In addition to being known as a seven-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton is also recognisable for his style - which includes his signature twist braids, often worn pulled back into a bun. There's no doubt his barber has some serious skills for this intricate braided style.

I wonder what new hairstyles we'll see in the Formula 1 paddock this season...
