OSMO has appointed its latest Brand Ambassador, Kyle Ross. Kyle’s passion for barbering began over 15 years ago when he decided to follow his creative passion over a university law degree. Unfilled with the academic world, Kyle’s interest in fashion, social engagements, and creativity led him to switch track to a hairdressing career instead. Hairdressing trained; Kyle decided to focus solely on men’s hair eight years ago and hasn’t looked back.
“I found that my personal interest in men’s fashion and modern barbering appealed more, and I recognised that there were so many opportunities to expand barbering styles, education, and techniques. Being hairdresser trained, I’m able to combine my skills and provide a client with a full haircut experience – taking their lifestyle, at-home styling abilities, alongside the hair textures and head shape to create a bespoke cut for my customers. OSMO has so many products to ensure our clients can have the ideal product for at-home styling and that’s very important to me. It’s going to be an exciting journey working closely with the OSMO team during my role as Brand Ambassador,” explains Kyle.
Kyle opened his first shop, Sovereign Grooming, in 2016 in Aberdeen with a second shop in Edinburgh in 2020, and an Edinburgh academy in 2022. Passionate about education, the academy was a natural progression.
No stranger to awards and accolades, Kyle has been named Scottish Men’s Stylist of the Year, Best Barber and Social Media Influencer at the prestigious Scottish Hair & Beauty Awards, Best Barber UK at the International Barber Awards in Germany, shortlisted in the Creative Head Most Wanted and It List Awards, plus GQ Grooming Awards and named as Scotland’s ‘Coolest People’ by The Herald newspaper.
From running a successful barbering shop and academy, Kyle’s career experience has also seen him assist at London, Paris and Milan fashion shows alongside presenting on stage at industry events from Salon International, Pro Hair Live and Great British Barber Bash.
Kyle’s style of barbering is hybrid; he’s confident to take his hairdressing skills and knowledge of colour to his men’s cutting and styling techniques. With a flair towards more softer styles, Kyle's clipper work allows him to create softer fades and curves, working with the natural growth of the hair for a truly tailored cut.
“We’ve been aware of Kyle's work for some time from his Scottish award wins and social media. His style of barbering has a unique, stand-out approach with clear creative direction. This, along with Kyle’s educational experience, will be fully embraced and utilised by the OSMO team. From creating social media content to presenting on stage, and supporting the team with educational expertise, Kyle is going to be a great asset to the OSMO family,” OSMO Senior Brand Manager, Sinéad McLaughlin concludes.
