When it comes to grooming and self-care, new research shows that men across the UK are paying drastically different prices for their regular haircut depending on their postcode.
Experts from Ripe Hair & Beauty have analysed the average cost of a men’s haircut across the UK to reveal the cheapest and most expensive places for a trim. The research was taken from Expatistan cost of living data and compared against available data for 36 UK towns and cities. Take a look at what they found…

Coming in at top spot as the most affordable place for a men’s haircut is Stoke-on-Trent. According to the data, the average cost of a men’s haircut in the UK is £13 while residents in Stoke-on-Trent can expect to pay only £9 for a cutting service.
With trims recommended for every two to six weeks depending on the clients’ preferred style, according to the research, this would equal to around £108 annually, compared to the UK national average of £156 – almost 45% less.
Preston and Perth closely followed with prices at £10.

The data revealed that Edinburgh is the most expensive place in the UK for a visit to the barbershop, where residents in Edinburgh can expect to pay £21 for a cut.
With 190 registered hair and beauty treatment shops in the city, there has been a 5.6% increase in the number of shops registered in the past five years according to data from ONS collected by the Daily Mail.
Glasgow then followed with a price of £17, and Bristol and Reading came in third with prices at £16.
