Emma Dixon from Ruby Tuesdays in Coventry has just taken the title of Denman Stage Star UK & Ireland. Emma was a finalist in last year’s competition and her tenacity and creativity has paid off. To take the UK & Ireland title Emma initially submitted a 2-minute video explaining why she would make the perfect winner and then went on to do an Instagram Live demonstration of a modern take on a 1950’s Jelly Roll style for the Denman judges.
Emma will now join Regional Winners Jalia Pettis, Christine Alves and Nobu Hirahara, representing USA, Europe and Asia respectively, to compete for the Global Stage Star title at Salon International, held at ExCeL London on Monday 16 October.
Emma started her hairdressing career at 24 and has been totally committed to the craft ever since. Post-Covid Emma decided to seek out fresh opportunities to learn and grow and as a result her career has flourished. In recent years Emma has become a Tutor and Assessor working with NVQ learners, become a volunteer cancer haircare adviser and of course has now become Denman Stage Star UK & Ireland Winner 2023.
Each regional winner has won a year’s worth of Denman goodies and £1,000 (local equivalent) towards any education of their choice plus an all-expenses paid trip to London to compete on-stage for the global title. Emma, Jalia, Christine and Nobu will present live on the HJ Stage at Salon International to showcase their skills and for the chance to be crowned the Global Stage Star 2023. The ultimate winner will receive additional prizes including an all-expenses paid professional collection photoshoot with award-winning photographer Des Murray, plus a trip to the Denman factory in Northern Ireland and one international event.
Denman Stage Star 2023 marks the 10th year of the competition, which was conceived to offer fresh and upcoming stage talent their moment to shine; originally a UK & Ireland only competition, Stage Star has now gone global and welcomes entries internationally.
Entires for Denman Stage Star 2024 will open again in late spring 2024.
