Following an intense day of presenting and in-depth discussion, Simon Shaw has been named as the 40th President of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing
Now in its 80th year, The Fellowship for British Hairdressing elects a new President every two years. Following in the footsteps of industry exemplars including Errol Douglas MBE, Beverly C MBE, Robert Eaton, Karine Jackson, Ken Picton and outgoing President Ashleigh Hodges, Simon said he was honoured to be taking over the role at this very special time in the Fellowship’s history.
“The Fellowship is a wonderful organisation, full of inspirational people who epitomise everything that’s great about British hairdressing and barbering in all different sectors”, added Simon. “I am privileged to take on the role of the President – taking the Fellowship into its ninth decade – and to work with the members, sponsors, partners and Head Office Team, all who make the Fellowship so special.
“There’s so much that I want to achieve throughout my presidency, from working with Further Education throughout the UK to developing our membership across the board, highlighting the education we provide.”
Simon has had a long-standing relationship with the Fellowship, joining very early on in his career and working alongside past Presidents and board members to develop the visibility and integrity of the Fellowship. Through his role as Head of Education for the Fellowship, he has been able to showcase what the organisation stands for and increase membership. He has also been instrumental in introducing the very successful Project Men & Media to the Fellowship’s roster of educational projects.
Simon is passionate about education, which is why it will be pivotal to his presidency; his day-to-day role as Global Artistic Director for Wahl brings with it a whole host of exceptional qualities, both commercially and creatively, which will aid him in this new chapter.
Fellowship for British Hairdressing Chair, Marcus Allen commented: “Simon is a fantastic choice as President of the Fellowship – he is truly immersed in all sectors within our industry and respected by all who know him, with so much experience in all aspects of the business of hairdressing and barbering.
“His commitment and dedication to the Fellowship is immeasurable, which will ensure a very exciting two years ahead. Our thanks go out to outgoing President Ashleigh Hodges for all the work and support she has given the Fellowship over the past two years.”
